30th Anniversary Party

at Music City Texas Theater

August 15, 2009

We would like to thank everyone who was able to come out and celebrate our 30th anniversary with us at Music City Texas Theater! The night was very special to us and again we thank you for your support of Hickory Hill over the years! It has been a blessing to have been able to play our music to so many over the years.

A special thanks to Richard Faviell and Ed & Becky Fryday for all the pictures.

“...playin’ dominoes and reminiscin’…”

It's great to take a load off from making music and playing concerts with a group of your friends, like we do with Hickory Hill. For 31 years, we've been playing great music and pleasing crowds and listeners alike, and we enjoy sitting around a table together and set up the dominoes for a quiet afternoon of throwing bones. If you're the same way, you'll know that there's nothing better than joking about the past with the people closest to you.

So if you're into great, foot-stomping acoustic sounds and you find yourself turning up your speakers,
digital hearing aids and headphones or just dragging everyone to our concerts again and again, we thank you. This picture shows what we're doing when we're not providing you with great entertainment in the evenings, and we hope you're the same. Though, we will ask you not to throw dominoes at the stage - roses are fine.

WITH BILL MONROE

1985

Yes, even Mr. Monroe got to meet Hickory Hill. Actually it was our privilege during a 1984 festival at Gilley’s in Pasadena, TX. The Father of Bluegrass Music even had us huddle up to sing with him on a then un-recorded song. What an honor to be asked to sing some close harmony with the legend!

The first Hickory Hill promo picture, taken on John’s family farm in 1981. Those of you who have our “Coyote Night” album will remember this scene. The triple X jug was just for looks, but it’s still a wonder anybody hired us!
